Introduction

Ready Ledger ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed by Ready Ledger. This policy is part of, and subject to, our Terms of Service. By using the app, you agree to both this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.

Information We Collect

Ready Ledger does not collect your personal data, and we do not operate any servers that store it. All data you enter into the app is stored locally on your device and, if you choose to enable iCloud sync, in your personal iCloud account managed by Apple. A few optional features send limited data only when you choose to use them — see Sharing and Optional Online Features below.

Data Stored Locally

The app allows you to store the following types of information locally on your device:

Career Information: Job applications, employment records, skills, certifications, courses, achievements, and network contacts
Financial Information: Bills, payments, bank account balances, transactions, receipts, and expense records
Personal Content: Notes, journal entries, mood tracker entries, voice memos, photos, and documents you choose to attach
Schedule Information: Interviews, reminders, and calendar events
Profile Information: Your name, contact information, and profile photo (if provided)

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely for app functionality:

To display your career, financial, and personal tracking data within the app
To sync your data across your devices via iCloud (if enabled)
To share bills with household members you invite (if enabled)
To provide reminders and notifications you configure
To generate reports and analytics within the app
To index your data for on-device search via Spotlight (no data leaves your device)
To provide motivational notifications and progress tracking within the app
To enable Handoff and Continuity features across your Apple devices
To display widgets and live activities on your home screen and lock screen
To execute Siri commands and Shortcuts automations you configure

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

All app data is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and is protected by iOS's built-in file encryption (Data Protection).

iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud sync, your data is transmitted to and stored in your personal iCloud account. This data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

On-Device Processing

Features like speech recognition, receipt scanning, and search indexing process data on your device whenever possible. No data from these features is transmitted to external servers.

Location Data

Ready Ledger uses your location in two optional ways:

Filling in addresses: When you tap to use your current location while adding a to-do, mileage trip, job site, or garage record, the app looks up your current address once. Interview maps show where you are while the map is open.
Arrival and departure reminders: If you turn these on for a to-do, mileage destination, or interview (and allow “Always” location access), iOS monitors those places and lets the app know when you arrive or leave so it can show a local notification.

Addresses you save are stored with your other app data and sync through your iCloud account if you enable iCloud sync. Ready Ledger never sends your location to us or to any third party.

No Third-Party Access

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties except as described in Sharing and Optional Online Features below, and only when you choose to use those features.

Sharing and Optional Online Features

These features are off unless you use them:

Household bill sharing: If you create or join a Household, the bills you assign to household members are shared with the people you invite, using Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) sharing. Invited members can see the bills assigned to them; the rest of your data is not shared. The household owner can delete the household, and members can leave it, at any time from Bills → More → Household.
Sharing a bill: When you choose to share a bill (for example, through Messages), the app creates an attachment containing that bill's name, amount, due date, category, company, recurrence, and notes. It goes only to the people you send it to, through the app you choose.
Garage vehicle lookups (off by default): If you turn on Vehicle Lookups (Settings → Vehicle Lookups (NHTSA)), decoding a VIN sends that VIN to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) at vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov, and checking for recalls sends the vehicle's make, model, and year to api.nhtsa.gov. Nothing else about you or the app is sent. NHTSA is a U.S. government agency, and its handling of these requests is governed by its own privacy policy.

Third-Party Services

Ready Ledger does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. Apart from the optional NHTSA vehicle lookups described above, the app uses only Apple's native frameworks:

Speech Recognition for voice memo transcription (on-device when possible)
Core Location for filling in addresses and optional arrival/departure reminders

Handoff/Continuity for seamless device transitions
SiriKit and Shortcuts for voice commands and automation
WidgetKit for home screen widgets
ActivityKit for Live Activities and real-time updates
Files app integration for document access

Permissions

The app may request the following permissions, which you can grant or deny:

Camera: To scan receipts for expense tracking
Photo Library: To attach photos and documents
Microphone: To record voice memos
Speech Recognition: To transcribe voice memos to text (on-device processing when possible)
Location Services: To fill in addresses and send arrival/departure reminders for to-dos, mileage destinations, and interviews (optional)
Calendar: To sync interview dates and job events
Contacts: To link network contacts with your address book
Face ID/Touch ID: For secure app access (optional)
Notifications: To send reminders and alerts
Files Access: To save and access documents through the Files app
Siri & Shortcuts: To create voice commands and automation workflows

All permissions are optional, and the app will function with limited features if permissions are denied.

Data Retention and Deletion

You have complete control over your data:

All data on your device can be deleted within the app (Settings → iCloud Sync & Data → Delete All Data), and individual items can be deleted at any time
Deleting the app removes all local data from your device
iCloud data, including any backups, can be deleted through your iCloud settings
We do not retain any copies of your data

Important: Back Up Your Data

Because all data is stored locally on your device, we strongly recommend enabling iCloud sync to keep a secure backup. If your device is lost, stolen, or damaged and no backup exists, all of your data will be permanently lost and cannot be recovered. Ready Ledger does not store any copies of your data on external servers, so iCloud is the only way to safeguard against data loss. See also Section 4 of our Terms of Service regarding your data backup responsibilities.

Children's Privacy

Ready Ledger is suitable for users of all ages. The app does not collect or sell personal data, does not facilitate financial transactions, and does not display advertising, public feeds, or content from people the user hasn't invited. Data stays on the user's device (or in their personal iCloud account if enabled), except for the optional sharing and vehicle lookup features described above, which send limited data only when the user chooses to use them. This makes it a safe environment for younger users to practice financial literacy, goal setting, and personal organization under parental guidance.

App Access

Ready Ledger is currently offered as a fully free app. No subscription, trial, or one-time purchase is required to use app features.

If this access model changes in a future release, updated terms will be published before any paid model takes effect. See Section 6 of our Terms of Service.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted within the app and on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. Changes to our Terms of Service are governed separately and described in Section 18 of that document.

Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device and in your personal iCloud account, you have complete control over your information:

Access: View all your data within the app
Correction: Edit any information directly in the app
Deletion: Delete any or all data at any time
Export: Export your data in various formats (PDF, CSV)

Please note that exported PDF and CSV files are not encrypted. For important security guidance on handling exported data, see Section 7 of our Terms of Service.

California Privacy Rights

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). However, since Ready Ledger does not collect or sell personal information, these rights are not applicable. All your data remains under your control on your device.
